This mala is made from animal bone and has turns of metal wire with coral and turquoise inlays. These two gemstones are widely used in Tibetan jewellery as it is believed to offer the strongest protection from negative energies and obstructions in one's spiritual journey. Animal bone is popularly used in malas to remind the owner about impermanence and the limited time that we have. From a practical point of view, it was a material that was plentiful in historical Tibet. Bone malas are also associated with powerful and wrathful protector deity practices in Mahayana Buddhism.
This mala is suitable as a spiritual tool for prayer and meditation, and can also be worn as a talisman to offer protection. It is approximately 36 cms in length from Guru bead to end of strung Mala.
