These cotton prayer flags are dedicated to Lord Ganesha, who is known for his power to remove obstacles. Although he's traditionally a Hindu god, Buddhists and Jains also revere him. In fact, Ganesha in Buddhism takes many forms including those of an enlightened being as well as a Dharma protector.
Ganesha is revered as a patron for the arts and his ability to bestow wealth, intellect and wisdom. Dancers and musicians, particularly in southern India, usually invoke him before any major performances. Temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha can be found all over Central Asia including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Sumatra, Java and Burma.
Prayer flags are usually hung up high in clean areas where they can flutter freely.
