Seals were commonly used in ancient Tibet as a sign of authority or in lieu of a person's signature. They typically represented a monastery, family or a business. Seals were commonly made from gold, silver, jade, brass, crystal, copper, iron, wood and animal horn.
This seal has been made from iron and brass and features a Conch. A conch in Tibetan Buddhism is considered auspicious as it signifies the spread of the Dharma.
