This one-of-a-kind chest looks like a prop straight out of a movie set. It is handcrafted by a Tibetan artisan, whose family has passed down this specialized skill for generations. Its exterior features intricate carving on iron and bronze, beautifully contrasted with a solid hardwood interior. This is the first time we have stocked such an item, and it was our pure good luck that we were able to source such a beautiful item.
The front and back of the box feature a pair of snow lions guarding a wish granting jewel. In Tibetan culture, the lions are powerful protectors while the wish granting jewel represents wealth and prosperity. Note that the same motif has also been adopted as the national emblem of (historical) Tibet. Similarly, the top of the chest features two dragons guarding a wish fulfilling jewel. Finally, the sides of the chest feature the mystical garuda. The garuda is a mythical bird-like creature symbolising power, protection and freedom in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. With the strength of an eagle and the spirit of a divine guardian, it soars above ignorance and fear.
